Maurice Tillet was nicknamed “The French Angel” and “The French Giant,” and he inspired the character of Shrek in the 2001 movie of the same name. Tillet was a two-time champion wrestler and one of France’s top box office draws. He married Olga Kuchtova in 1947, and they remained married until his death in 1954.
