Two fires alight twinborn and ravening.
Each to eat the other to zero.
Each the exact shape of the other’s undoing.
In the dark void they pair and vanish.
A white flash where both unmake themselves and was nothing.
Countless as grain on an unsanded shore they met.
Positive to inverse, annihilation total and soundless.
Yet there falls an asymmetry.
One grain in a billion left standing in the ash.
One lonely spark un-partnered in the blind ruin.
A single survivor wandering out from the wreckage of symmetry.
From that one leftover scrap the suns were struck.
The dust gathered, the iron hardened in the cold.
All that ever was or would be:
the bone; the salt; the blood and stone.
Just the crumbs off that ancient, uneven table.
